100 Days: Proud to be a Fan
Today, I am proud to call myself a Prince fan because today, April 21st,2012 Businessman celebrated 100 Days of running successfully in three movie theaters. This success comes right after, Superstar Mahesh success with Dookudu.Once again our Prince has delivered back to back hits and his fans are elated! Unfortunately, this Caribbean Girl is yet to see Mahesh's new movie Businessman. I have been waiting ever so patiently for the release of the DVD (needed English subtitles) but the dates keeps on getting pushed back!! But, it's a Mahesh movie so I don't mind the wait because he is always worth the wait. Its at times like these that I hate the fact that I can't speak Telugu. I have seen the trailers, yes every single one of them, and I have got to say: Surya Bhai has got to be one of Superstar Mahesh's best characterization to date!Mahesh has played numerous roles over the course of his career and he completely embraces the characters, its as if he lived the role of his characters. He made them believable. But as Surya Bhai, Prince has outdone himself! I was amazed at how much of a negative role his character played, but judging from the trailers, he did an excellent job at portraying himself as The Businessman. So many dates are floating around as to the release date of this, in my opinion, blockbuster in Mahesh's career but I'm hoping that I can get my hands on the original DVD before my birthday! That's all I asked my parents for on my 19th birthday, an original copy of Mahesh Babu's Businessman DVD.

Thus My PrinceMania Began
I continued my research on this first class actor and he led me to a whole new world, a world called Tollywood. I recently read in an article that one of the reasons he wants to act only in Telugu movies is to promote the Tollywood Film Industry and make it more well known in the world; Prince you are well on your way to doing just that! I grew up knowing about Bollywood, completely oblivious to the fact that this was not the only film industry in India. Mahesh’s movies have taught me not only about this other film industry, with a vast variety of talent, but also about South India. As I got more into my research about him, I noticed that his fans fondly referred to him as Prince and Superstar. At first it confused me as to why they gave him these names but the more I learned about him and the more I watched him act, the more I understood why he is known as Superstar Prince Mahesh Babu. I myself constantly refer to him as Prince, a very fitting title for Mahesh.
I have only been a fan for approximately five months now but I have seen almost half of his ovies and own them on DVD. He is a natural when it comes to acting. I love the way he completely embodies the character’s role and has the audience completely convinced that the character has come alive! It never ceases to amaze me how much he improves and progresses as an actor in each new film that he does. I really wish that his earlier movies, especially his debut movie was available with english subtitles but you don’t need subtitles to know that at the beginning of his career as a lead actor, that Mahesh was headed straight to stardom!
I was completely and utterly surprised to find out that his father was also Superstar in Tollywood and that Mahesh grew up around this stardom; that was because of the manner in which he carries himself in the industry. If you don’t know who he is, then you wouldn’t be able to guess that this is Tollywood’s number one actor or that he’s a Superstar! I admire his simplicity and his humbleness. Those are traits that are rarely found in people of his status. I see him not only as a great actor but also as a role model. I would hope that I can emulate these qualities because he’s the kind of person who always encourages his colleagues and his co-stars when they take on new ventures and he also respect other’s works and the efforts they put into a project; especially when it comes to his movies. I have never heard him take credit for a movie’s success, the credit always goes to the entire team who made the production possible.

My First Mahesh Experience
No I don’t speak Telugu. No I’m not Indian. Yes I am a huge Mahesh Babu fan! People seem to find it quite fascinating that a Caribbean girl is such a huge fan of Tollywood’s number one Superstar Prince Mahesh Babu and the first question they all ask is: How did you find out about him?! Well here’s the not so exciting yet life changing story...
I was on winter break from college, bored out of my mind, browsing YouTube when I came across a movie titled “Sainikudu”. Like any girl would do, I googled the movie and the lead actor: my first reaction was “wow he’s hot, I’ll watch the movie” and I did watch the movie. Storyline for the movie was beautiful (never understood why it was considered a flop) but that wasn’t what caught my attention, it was the acting capability of the very handsome actor! He was just simply superb and I enjoyed every moment of the film. His dialogue delivery had me mind blown! Thus began, what my mother calls, my obsession with Prince Mahesh Babu.
